I don't think Hip-Hop is dead but I'll be damned if these untalented mofos aren't trying to kill it. Unlike the northern/east coast rap elitists, I can appreciate some good booty shake (perhaps that's because I'm a southerner). But worse than Young Jeezy is Jim Jones and anyone associated with the Dipset including Lame Dash's wack ass.

Dick In A Box is a classic in the tradition of New Jack Swing. What cracked me up most about that video is how well they captured the mannerisms and video staples of the 90's R&B cats. The baskeball hoop was classic. The beat is dope too!

The Jeezy thing? Hip-Hop is indeed dead. The passing of James Brown seems real symbolic coming at a time like this. I know it's a coincidence, but it seems eerie when you think about all the early Hip-Hop music built offa his stuff. Rest in peace to both of them.

People been sleepin on SNL. Its not a good as it was a few years ago but the writing is still great.
I assumed that with Nas' proclamation of Hip-Hop being dead, he would attempt some type of rebirth or ressurection of some sort with the album. I didnt for once second think that he would make an attempt to add person proof to his theory. I didnt think that he would make his work of art exhibit A of his indictment. Pure brilliance I tell you. That Nas is always one step ahead of the game.
I guess Jezzy has replaced Jim Jones on your most hated list hunh?

"My Dick In a Box" is quite possibly the funniest thing to happen in the last 10 years, especially on SNL. I had actually just turned on my computer looking for that Heizman song. I heard it was some ignorance at it's finest, and these boys did not dissapoint!

I like the "I luv it" single, though the first track I encountered on the actual album was so horrible that I had to stop listening.. planning on a do-over today

"The biggest rap openings to date this year are Jay-Z (680K), T.I. (521K), and the Game (358K). Those rappers are all “superstar” rappers. Hell, Young Jeezy only sold like 170K on his first album."

Jeezy may have only sold 170k, but his album definitely got distributed in the streets wayyyyy more than that. Like it or not, that nigga IS a superstar in the streets. And that's what you hit on with this post... I don't think it's ever been about Jeezy's lyrical prowess - people like him. They like his delivery, they like how gutter he came out, and they love his ad libs. Lyrics be damned I guess?

And on a side note, I'm appalled that the Game sold 358k, seeing as how he is quite possibly the most corny nigga in recent rap history. I'll get behind Jeezy before Game any day.

man, I happened upong BET one evening recently and they had jeezy on....it was somewhat of a bootleg MTV's Diary, so they were followin him around...and letting him talk at the camera. I couldn't take it for more than 45 seconds. i was dying, just feelin my brain cells put themselves out of misery from havin to listen and compute what that fool was talkin about. BET really needs to get it together.

@Dr. S: I like a few tracks on it, but that doesn't make it a good album at all. And the tracks I like aren't even that hot. Basically, I'll be okay if I never listen to it again. No lie.

@cdot: Right!!! This might be some of the best entertainment ever.

@builtfromwax: Seriously dog, Aladdin is a way better artist than Jay-Z anyway. "Whole New World" anybody? Makes sense to me!!
