I feel you on not knowing what to do wiht a super nerdy child. I don't know what I would do if I had a frilly girly-girl or a child who is too uncoordinated to play any type of sports. It would throw me off, but I believe you would get used to it.............and just hope the next child that comes along is not the same, lol.

Maaaannnn...I'm comfortable in most aspects of my life but it's STILL something about bringing another LIFE into this world that makes me uneasy. You summed it up in saying, "Parenting can be a bitch."

I want kids but I just KNOW that it's something I'm not trying to do until I feel I'm really ready to. How the child comes out??? Of course I want the best for him, her, or them but mostly importantly, as long as their healthy, I'm a happy camper (not like the young 'camper' you were but you catch my drift).

Interesting topic though...Good Post!!

So ironic you brought of Steve Urkel, someone was just mentioning him to me. (I had to squash the false suicide rumor. Wonder what's going on with ol Jaleel these days. Well, not really, it just sounded nice to say that, lol).

Anywho, I think there are two types of "cool": natural cool and cultivated cool. This means your kids have little chance of being "uncool," cuz even if they have natural uncool tendencies you can cultivate cool by starting them early on in "cool" ish like sports or cheerleading, that'll at least ensure social ability.

So basically I agree with the previous commenters, you don't have anything to worry about. Litte Panama and/or Little Panamaisha will be juuussst fine. :)

Have a good Hump Day!

yeah, i dont think you have too much to worry about either, homey...your kids will turn out fine; even if they end up the hopeless, lame Gerard-from-Boomerang types, they'll still be the cool accepted nerds, not the ones everyone makes fun of.

but remember...the way to rear him is to put a ball, not a book, in his hands...

Seriously, children are supposed to develop friendship skills early on. If your child is the pissy-smelling kid nobody wants to play with, it's your job to wash his ass and push him out on the playground aand make him interact with other kids. It's un-natural for a child not to develop social skills. Some parents purposely ignore the value of social skills and replace them with academics. Academics are wonderful. I love a good book. But socializing is healthy. Don't assume your kids will be fine. As a parent, you have to remain aware. If a school year goes by and your kids hasn't been invited to one b-day party--and you know they're being held because you've heard the parent-chatter in the kid pick-up area--then you need to start making some moves.

Umm...I don't think you have much to worry about with your kids in the cool department. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Panamaisha?????????????????? I'm dying. Sometimes I do sit and think about your future family for some reason. LOL. Like, I know it will be quite a show. Can't wait!
